Missions & Outreach

New - dinner

Havelock UMC takes seriously Jesus’ instruction to help our neighbors who need food, clothing and compassion. Please help us love our neighbors by participating in one of these ministries:

Fourth Wednesday Dinners: The fourth Wednesday of each month, Havelock opens its doors for a free meal to whomever would like to take part. Open to church members and the community at large, we regularly serve more than 100 people at these events, with a menu that changes from month to month. Listen for announcements during Sunday worship and our Facebook page for details about each month’s meal. If you would like to help, don’t hesitate to call the church office at 402-466-6736.

United Methodist Women: This denomination-wide organization takes on many tasks for the well-being of the church family. UMW assists with a wide variety of missions projects, funerals and special events in the lives of the congregation.

Esther’s Closet: The church hosts a closet with clothes for men, women and children just outside our chapel area. It is open at regular intervals for people in need of clothing. Call the church office if we can help furnish you with clothing items. Donations are always needed, especially during the change of seasons. Drop off clothing donations on the table outside the Friendship Parlor, and we’ll be happy to provide tax-deductible receipts for those who wish to claim the gifts on their taxes.

FoodNet: Havelock United Methodist Church is proud to provide space on Tuesdays for this important ministry in the Lincoln area that provides mostly perishable foods such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products and bread – all items not usually found at a dry goods food pantry, but are still in demand. Distribution of food begins at 5 p.m. Tuesdays in our fellowship hall. Drop in to ask questions or check out FoodNet’s website.

Diaper Depot: A healthy change of diapers can cost a family with one  infant more than $100 per month. It’s a necessity that food stamps and WIC don’t cover. Diaper Depot is a joint mission project between Havelock United Methodist and New Hope United Methodist churches. Together, the churches serve more than 200 families in need of diapers. You can contribute by donating money or diapers by dropping them off at the church.
